| Description: Class Description: US Civics Intensive Class is a middle and high school credited class (worth 1/2 credit). Elementary students may use this class as a unit study for their social studies curriculum. We will study the foundational principles of The United States Government from your role as a US citizen to the Commander-in-Chief’s role as President. We will assign a weekly video and/or lecture to watch online to coincide with each government topic. On March 9th, the class will travel by bus to Washington DC for an “enhanced” hands-on educational tour of our running government. We will have 4 full days of exploring DC’s amazing sites. On March 14th, we will travel home. The following are sites we will visit, but not limited to:
Library of Congress Washington Monument Marine Memorial / Iwo Jima Lincoln Memorial Supreme Court Capital Hill The White House Holocaust Memorial Museum Smithsonian Inst. Arlington National Cemetery (changing of the guard) We will break the costs of this class down by semester. For the first semester $450.00 per person is due by September 30th . This fee covers transportation and lodging. The second semester costs will be approximately $400.00, which will cover tour group costs, bus transportation to any of the above locations, and admission fee (if required). The second semester fee will be finalized once the above locations make their 2026 calendar group rates available to the public. Total Class fee: Approximately $850 per person This class will not meet in person every week. You will be notified of in-person meetings. We may meet on Thursdays as well. |
